New Stars Swimming Club (NSSC) is a bilingual swim club offering primarily competitive and novice youth training to current swimmers and new immigrants who prefer to communicate in mainly Chinese but not limited to English.
With the increase of newcomers settling in the area, the need to create a small-scale bilingual swim club is significant and meaningful. The NSSC provides the service to swimmers and their new immigrant families supporting both to mingle the local community gradually and understand Canadian culture by joining the small, friendly, family-oriented team for training and competing.
The NSSC offers flexible training hours and respects the swimmers/families personal goal. Coaches in NSSC maintain a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence as the role model to the athletes. Positive communications and academic advice/assistance are demonstrated to support the swimmers and families.
The Club’s vision is to become a small, friendly, family-oriented club that teaches swimming techniques, develops competitive skills in the training and competitions with the service of bilingual languages.
The swimming program is divided by the levels based on the swimmer’s skills according to the physical, psychological and cognitive development of their age. It offers the training suitable from young children to youth adolescence and each level will set up specific goals to fit the personal achievement. Swimmers are encouraged to train to meet their personal goals and to challenge themselves with personal best records in contributing to the Club’s development process throughout the year.
The swimmer families are encouraged to be part of the Club events such as swim-a-thon and officials’ courses in order to join and enjoy their children’s sport life.
